A 3-in-1 Metal Treatment Chemical is a pretreatment chemical used before painting or powder coating that combines three functions in a single process:
1. Degreasing – removes oil, grease, and dirt.
2. Derusting – removes light rust and oxide layers.
3. Phosphating – forms a phosphate conversion coating that improves paint or powder coating adhesion and corrosion resistance.
- Because all three actions occur in one treatment bath, it is commonly called a 3-in-1 Pretreatment Chemical or Cleaner-Cum-Phosphating Chemical.
* How It Works
- When metal parts are immersed in or sprayed with the solution:
Step 1: Cleaning
- Surfactants and cleaning agents remove:
Oil
Grease
Dust
Shop contaminants.
Step 2: Rust Removal
- Acidic components dissolve:
Light rust
Oxides
Mill scale (limited effectiveness on heavy scale).
Step 3: Phosphating
- The chemical reacts with the metal surface to create a thin phosphate layer that:
Improves coating adhesion
Reduces under-film corrosion
Provides a better surface for powder coating or painting
