CLN-108 Alkaline Degreaser
An alkaline degreaser is the first—and one of the most critical—steps in any metal pre‑treatment line. Its job is to remove oil, grease and light soils so that subsequent conversion coatings (e.g. white chromate), phosphates or paint can bond properly
Why Alkaline First?
Saponification: High‑pH caustics (NaOH or KOH) chemically turn fats/oils into water‑soluble soaps.
Surfactant Lift: Non‑ionic surfactants emulsify any remaining particulates and fines.
Rinse Readiness: A clean, oil‑free surface ensures uniform wetting in your next rinse or acid step.
Safety & Maintenance
Personal Protection: Full chemical gloves, splash goggles, face shield, apron.
Ventilation: Alkaline vapors can irritate—use local exhaust.
pH Monitoring: Check pH daily; add caustic or acid to maintain target.
Filter & Skim: Remove floating oils (skimmer) and particulate (bag or cartridge filters). #CLN-108 Alkaline Degreaser Chemical Manufacturer.
