A powder coating spray gun is a device used to apply dry powder paint onto a metal or other conductive surface before curing it in an oven.
1. Powder Supply
Powder coating material is stored in a hopper or powder box.
Compressed air carries the powder to the spray gun.
2. Electrostatic Charging
Inside the gun, the powder particles receive an electrical charge (typically negative).
The workpiece is grounded (connected to earth).
3. Powder Attraction
The charged powder is attracted to the grounded part by electrostatic force.
This helps achieve high transfer efficiency and even coverage.
4. Curing
After spraying, the coated part is placed in an oven.
Heat melts and flows the powder into a continuous film.
The coating then chemically cures to form a durable finish.
