DERUSTING CHEMICAL
Types of Derusting Chemicals:
Acid-Based Rust Removers:
1. Phosphoric Acid: Effective at converting iron oxide (rust) into a water-soluble compound, leaving a protective phosphate coating on the metal surface.
Oxalic Acid: Particularly useful for removing rust stains and light corrosion from metals. It is less aggressive compared to stronger acids.
Hydrochloric Acid (Muriatic Acid): Very strong and effective at dissolving rust, but also highly corrosive and requires careful handling.
Alkaline-Based Rust Removers:
2. Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda): Works by breaking down rust through alkaline hydrolysis, making it easier to remove.
Potassium Hydroxide: Similar to sodium hydroxide, effective for removing rust and other contaminants from metal surfaces.
