Zinc phosphating is a metal pretreatment process used before powder coating, painting, or electroplating. It forms a thin, crystalline phosphate layer on the metal surface that improves coating adhesion and corrosion resistance.
* What zinc phosphating does
Improves powder coating adhesion by creating a rough, microscopic surface.
Increases corrosion resistance by acting as a protective barrier.
Reduces under-film rusting if the coating is scratched.
Provides a uniform surface for better coating appearance.
* Typical process sequence
1.Degreasing/Cleaning – remove oil, grease, and dirt.
2.Water rinse
3.Zinc phosphating
4.Water rinse
5.Passivation/Sealing (optional but recommended)
6. Drying
7. Powder coating
